DIY Clear Tote Bag Purse (From a Shower Curtain Liner)

Updated: Jun 11, 2020

Here's how to make a cute clear tote bag purse out of a shower curtain liner in just a few easy steps! It's budget-friendly, adds a cute touch to any outfit AND is perfect for the clear bag policy for stadiums and events.

Step 1: Cut Bag Shape

Fold the shower liner in half so both layers of grommets line up at the edge. Cut the size and shape you'd like your bag to be. I chose a small/medium rectangular shape.

Then cut a double-sided panel for the bottom of the bag. Glue the two layers together with small dots of hot glue at each corner.

Step 2: Glue Pieces to Form Bag Shape

Hot glue the edges of the bottom panel to the bottom edges of the top piece to create the base of the bag.

Then run a line of hot glue up and along the inside of the bag from the four corners of the bottom piece and pinch them together. This will create the box shape and will allow the bag to stand and keep its form.

Step 3: Add Ribbon Around the Base

Hot glue ribbon (or any other material you like) around the bottom of the base for a nice accent. If you'd like, you can also line the other edges of the bag, but I chose to only outline the base to maintain the clear look at the top.

Step 4: Add Straps/Handles

Lastly, it's time to add the straps or handles. I'm using boot laces from the dollar store, but this would also look great with a leather belt, fabric strips, chain, etc. Get creative!

All done!

You now have a trendy, clear bag that's perfect for so many different occasions!

Cute idea. This is perfect to keep my small crafts in. I always have more than one going at a time, and this way I can hang each one up in my spare room so I can see what's happening at a glance. Also would be great for the beach or pool - sunscreen, glasses, water bottle - all sand and water proof. Thank You!!
