Step 2: Draw & Cut Cold Shoulders

Take a ruler and mark a spot on the shoulder that is about 3 inches away from the collar. Then, place your bowl or other circular object at that spot and trace the half circle shape onto the shoulder. Repeat this on the other shoulder and then cut along the lines. You now have your cold shoulders!

Step 3: Crop Shirt

Once your shoulders are cut out, move to the bottom of the shirt and draw a horizontal line where you want the bottom of the shirt to fall. Then cut along the line and your shirt is now cropped!

*If you prefer the shirt at its longer length, skip this step.

Step 4: Iron & Smooth Shoulder Edges

Next, flip the shirt inside out and move to an ironing board. Cut very small slits along the edges of one of the cold shoulders (I cut one slit in the middle and one at each end). This will allow the material to fold over smoothly.

Take strips of stitch witchery and line them up along the edges. Then fold the edges on top of the stitch witchery, place a piece of excess fabric on top, and iron everything down. Use the steam on the iron to make sure the stitch witchery bonds completely to the fabric. Your edges will now be nice and crisp!

Step 5: Smooth & Iron Bottom Edge

Once the edges around each cold shoulder are smooth, move down to the bottom of the shirt and repeat that process.

All done!

When all edges are ironed in place and smoothed with stitch witchery, you’ll have your complete cold shoulder button-up crop top! Thanks for checking out this project and let me know what you think! 🙂
