DIY High Slit Maxi Skirt + Tube Top (No Sewing)

Here’s a really quick DIY way to transform a regular maxi skirt into a high-slit skirt with matching tube crop top. As usual, no sewing is required! Enjoy. 🙂

Step 1: Gather Materials

What you’ll need:

  1. Maxi skirt

  2. Fabric scissors http://amzn.to/2lpapZM

  3. 1/4 inch elastic http://amzn.to/2lmq6QG

Step 2: Cut Arch

Cut an arch on the top layer of the front of the skirt. I recommend putting the skirt on first and marking about how high you want to cut so you don’t cut too far up!

Step 3: Create Slit

Cut a short piece of elastic. Then, pinch the top layer of the skirt’s material together where you want the top of the slit to reach and cut a very tiny hole. Again, I recommend marking this spot ahead of time while wearing the skirt.

Next, slip the piece of elastic through the hole, gather the material underneath and tie it together with a few knots (see video for more details). Now, your slit is complete!

Step 4: Create Top

When the skirt is complete, take the piece of material you cut from the front of the skirt and fold the top and bottom edges underneath. You can also use fabric glue or stitch witchery to secure the folds, if you’d like. The strip of material will then wrap around your body and tie around the back as your tube top!

All done!

That’s it! You now have a vibrant high-slit maxi skirt and matching tube top without sewing! Perfect for vacation, the beach, etc. Thanks for checking out this project and let me know if you give it a try! 🙂
